How to Do an Invocation

Le version français est ici Comment faire une invocation.

We often use an invocation to set a tone of gratitude, most commonly before a meal, but it can occur before any gathering. In this video, Craig Senior gives us tips for preparing and delivering an invocation speech.

The sample invocation speech:

Let us take a few moments of silence to appreciate the meal we are about to receive.
In my childhood, my family had very little money, so I do appreciate every meal, my daily bread.
We have children in our communities and across our country and across our world whose stomachs are empty.
Let us appreciate this meal as they would. Let us also take a moment to thank the servers and the kitchen staff.
Let us be thankful also for these moments with each other.
Remember, these moments will never happen again, ever.
Bon appétit!
